Hearing of People's Democratic Party (HDP) MP Ahmet Şık was held at İstanbul 17. Court of First Instance. The case in which Şık was accused of 'publicly insulting the Turkish nation, Turkish Republic and defaming state institutions’ based on his social media posts, was stopped based on Article 83/2 of the Turkish Constitution.

Ahmet Şık's lawyer Can Atalay stated that his client was elected member of parliament after 24 June 2018 elections and requested the proceeding to be stopped based on Şık's legislative immunity. Judge Mustafa Ün, accepted Atalay's request and stopped the proceeding based on Article 83/2 of the Turkish Constitution which grants legislative immunity for members of parliament.
