Eylem Sonbahar, İstanbul - Eighth hearing of academics Esra Mungan, Meral Camcı, Muzaffer Kaya and Kıvanç Ersoy who had signed the petition titled "We will not be a party to this crime", also known as the 'peace petition' and were afterward sued for "terrorist propaganda", was held at İstanbul 13. High Criminal Court.

Mungan and Camcı were present in the courtroom whereas Kaya and Ersoy did not attend the hearing in person. The hearing was monitored by Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA), Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Turkey representative Erol Önderoğlu and Prof. Dr. Onur Hamzaoğlu. Many people were not able to enter the courtroom due to the lack of seats.

Defendants Mungan and Camcı requested extra time to prepare their defense statements against the prosecutor's final opinion. Defense lawyer Oya Meriç Eyüboğlu remarked that the missing documents in the case file must be completed, stated once again that they have reports and news articles to present to the panel of judges, and thus requested extra time. The court adjourned the hearing until 28 January 2019.
